The Abbey Byre for the Arts
About the Byre
The Abbey Byre was originally built in 1920 by the monks of St. Bernard Abbey to be used as a hay barn, serving their prized dairy herd operation. In 2012 it was renovated and repurposed as a Performing Arts and Event Center, housing theatrical performances, workshops, meetings, retreats, concerts, receptions, parties, and much more. Maintaining much of its historicty, the Byre incorporates cattle stall doors, refurbished light fixtures, original wood milled at St. Bernard, and 1954 door hardware, into an artful venue for social engagements.
The Byre boasts features such as:
6,000 square feet of indoor space and stage area,
4,000 square feet of tentable outdoor seating and gathering,
ability to accomodate between 200-300 people,
table and chair use as needed,
stage with state-of-the-art projection and sound system,
ample parking adjacent to building,
full service set-up and clean-up,
catering, photography, and DJ services.
